Cyanostar

Originally designed in the Amar Flood Lab at Indiana University by Prof. Semin Lee, cyanostar is both a work of molecular art and a useful tool. It primarily functions as an anion receptor that is capable of strongly binding large, charge-diffuse species. It is also the essential lattice-forming component in Small Molecule Ionic Isolation Lattices (SMILES). Cyanostar is available on gram-scale, highly thermostable, shelf-stable, and soluble in most organic solvents.

Potential applications: Anticorrosion, desalination, batteries/energy storage, and solid fluorescent materials (see the SMILES product page).
